Looking at creating my own personal website/homepage. I'm not a computer programmer or webmaster, although I'm not a total computer/internet novice either. I have been looking at these free (or cheap) website builder sites. Which one is perceived as the best one available? Which one would you recommend?
I am professional web designer so, in my opinion , you cant beat getting it done by a professional. :-)
However, if you are going down the route of designing it yourself, template monster www.templatemonster.com have nice designs you can play around with, then you just need to find some good hosting with support.
It will be a very steep learning curve, but I am sure you will do it - good luck.
I agree with Herc, if you want a professional job, get a professional.
But I wanted to make my own site for fun and, frankly, there is not much fun in telling someone what you want and it appearing. So I tried several free site building progs, brought Serif Webplus 8 and struggled. Then Serif Webplus10 came out, I brougt it and its great. I have had tonnes of fun making my site. www.bekki-g.co.uk
DreamWeaver is still the best piece of WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) software you can use to build websites with. The online one's are all well and good if you can't be bothered to do some learning of basic HTML and CSS, but they are very limited as to what they can offer and you will hit a brick wall eventually.
Give it a go yourself and see how you get on. It's not that hard really (says he who's been doing it 10 years).
