We're hoping to get a french bulldog puppy (bitch) some time soon and we have our existing male bullmastiff who's 8. Where do we start as I'm worried that our existing dog will not like the puppy or be just plain miserable. Obviously as he's massive and the puppy will be tiny, we need to be careful on introductions.....any advice welcome

They need to be socialized with each other slowly at first. Make sure that you supervise very closely so that the older dog doesnt accidently step on the pup. If they are not getting along or the older dog is less tolerable at first, separate them but make sure the older dog still gets some attention from you - praise is always the best way to go. Never scold the older dog for growling - the dogs usually work it out but with a younger pup you just need patience. If you still have problems ask your vet if they know of any trainers in the area or just for advice. Puppies need socialization so make sure you take them to a puppy class to be around pups their own age too. Good luck!
