We've got all our windows open, including the one on the landing. I just went to walk downstairs, put my hand on the top bannister post & felt a nasty slimey sensation on my hand. On closer inspection, I found that a bird's been in & left a nice visiting card for us, then flown back out again! Talk about public convenience!

We get lots of birds in our garage & utiliity room, 'specially Robins, but not so much in the house - do you?

I don't believe it, my granddaughter's just asked me to go & take a look in the spare/guest room. The nice little bird has also been in there & pooped all over my nice cream duvet cover & throw - I only changed it yesterday morning - typical!!!!

Lol Smudge! The cheeky thing!!! Unfortunatley the only birds we get in the house are the ones the cats bring in :o(

Last year or the year before (forget now) I found a bird outside my daughter's bedroom window just dangling! Every now and then it flapped it's wings about but just hung there. We get birds in our eve's (is that the right word?) and this one had tried to eat a cord or something hanging off the side of the house, it was right down it's throat. I risked life and limb hanging out of the window helping this poor bird, managed to grab it and ease the cord out and he just flew away!
Nearest we've had to one coming in :o)

At least it's good drying weather :o)

Hi smudge, I've only had dead birds in my home like ~Wingnut~ apart from the live "Magpie" which my beloved "Merlin" brought in last year, that was scary.

The little horrors have left little packages on my washing on the washing-line and I have had to re-wash whatever the item my be!....... xxx :-)

Morning Wingnut & cat woman - back again after a busy weekend!

Years ago, my sister came home from work to find two dead blackbirds in her house - one was on her bed & one was down the toilet! She has always wondered how that came about, but only the birds will ever know - poor things!

Also, my husband reminded me of the night I fell asleep on the sofa late at night, only to be woken up by some chirping. I opened my eyes & was amazed to see that a bird had struggled down our chimney & ended up perched on the fire gtare. I must admit, it scared the hell out of me & I called out to my husband, who set it free.

P.S. In addition to my question - After I found the bird poo on the spare bed, my husband then spotted some on our other spare room window sill, I then discovered some more on my jewellery box in our bedroom. The poor bird must have been desparately trying to get out of the house again & we never heard a thing!

Wishing you both a lovely day!

* fire grate - not gtare!!!!

Hi smudge, Your story about the bird which came down your chimney jogged my memory when I was still living at home in my pre-teenage years!.... My parents didn't have a gas fire at the time and used coal, one morning we came down stairs to find that a bird had come down the chimney and had caused a soot-fall, the living room was a black dusty mess and the bird had flown round and left marks on the walls, and was perched dazed on my mam's pelmet. It took hours of cleaning and washing the room to get back to normal. The bird was let out via the window, it was lucky that our cats didn't have it for breakfast!..... xxx

Morning catwoman - your post did mke me laugh!

I imagined the bird that flew down your parents chimney to being a canary, then ending up looking like a blackbird!!!!

I can't imagine the mess it caused - but at least the cat missed out on a tasty beakfast!
