what is the best thing to put on a scar on my dogs leg. she had her leg amputated 6 months ago and her scar had healed, but for the last three days she has started to scratch and lick the scar again which has now formed into a scab and graze.thanks.

hi, your poor dog sounds like she's been through it, i used to have a german shephard that everytime she finished her season would keep nibbling her nipples till they were sore and scabby i found a cream type thing in the pet shop made from tea tree oil that was made for grazes, scads and irratants etc for pets it was great healed her up in no time, can't remember actual name but i'm sure your local pet shop would no what you meen its a healing cream, hope she's better soon, by the way what happened to her leg?

I symphetise. Try taking ur dog to the vet and get his advice as i wouldnt like to say anything and get it horribly wrong, so for ur dogs best health take her to the vet.

our dog did this and was a nightmare trying to keep her away from the place we tried all sorts of things and in the end settled for a cage muzzel which gave he leg time to heal and the hair to grow back but for about 6 weeks we tried all sorts i wish i had bought the muzzel right from the start but i didnt like the idea of her wearing a muzzel good luck
we also used camosa ointment very expensive but very good and with the muzzel she couldnt lick it off
My sympathies to your dog andy. A good thing to use is sudo creme. It's just a antiseptic cream that you can buy pretty cheaply from a chemist, its quite thick so hard to lick it all off if you give it a good rub in. It will soften the scab and stop infection too.
