i have seen a few cats do something similar sounding to this...one in particular bangs her head against desks, doors, anything available but it isn't through lack of anything it just seems to be to rub up against something.
I can't quite see a cat getting much chance of kicking it's own head in, but if it is scratching and drawing blood then it is quite possible that it has fleas. I'd get it down to the vet and have it checked out.
I'm with you HitMaker fleas sounds likely .. another thought is that it may be earmites,
Whether or not it has fleas or mites, your cat will certainly miss the company of other cats.Especially if you leave her alone at home while you're out at work. Go on! Off to the cat rescue with you and get her a feline companion!!
it sound very funny but worrying i have a friends cat who headbuts me for biscuits and tucks his head into my arm when im holding him its just to rub himself against me.but before realy consider a companion get your cat checked out.
