my marine aquarium keeps getting covered in red algae for some reason !!

The "algea" you mention is Cynobacter or red slime algea. You really need to tell us more about your set up...is it a reef, fish only etc. What are your water parameters.....SG, PO4, NO3, pH, Ca, Mg levels etc.

What filteration do you use and most importantly, do you use a phosphate remover such as phosban or rowaphos.

Do you use RO water and are water changes regular.

Lastly, one thing that's often recommended for cyno is to increase your waterflow (circulation). You really can't get enough flow and even if you have a soft coral or fish only tank, you can easily have 30 x the tank volume being pushed round the tank.....and cyno hates water flow.
