Honestly no idea but my cat does - so loudly sometimes you have to turn the tv up to drown him out! So if hamsters are anything like him then I'd say yes!

Generally no, however if you are keeping the hamster on sawdust or wood shavings then the tiny particles can get into their respiratory tract and reek havoc causing them to make funny noises when they sleep.

my hamster used to snuffle in her sleep which was totally adorable, i think it probably was to do with the sawdust though.
