Hi, I have an alsation (Sheba). The skin under her eyes seems to be gettting redder and more visible -sometimes so much so that it is covering her iris. She has also started to get discharge from her eyes quite frequentely. Her health is otherwise fine and people have told me this is common in dogs. Her sight also appears to be fine. Can anyone give advise as to whether this is normal?

this is probably conjunctivitis like people get. take her to the vet, he will check her eyes and give you some medicine that will both soothe and heal the problem. Please don't delay, conjunctivitis is really uncomfortable
PS forgot to mention that my dog had it this year for the first time. hers was allergy related so the vet prescribed an antihistamine as well

I also have an GSD, and she has allergies and gets red under her eyes, I give her antihistimine just like woofgang says, get her to the vet and let them check it out.

My Aunt had a badly bred male Lab that got droopy eye( not the technical term), and she didn't know it was not normal, and I told her to get it checked out, it's a genetic defect she found out and he had to have surgery to temporarily tie up the droopy eye, and he did have to have this done thru out his life.

Not saying this is what you have just thought I'd share. :) ~/:\~

As they above say "get it checked out" Just in case its something more serious like Jaundice.

Probably not but best be sure

I also have a german shep which gets a similar problem, my vet diagnosed dry eye, medication cleared it up,good luck hope it clears up soon.
