Mine seem to prefer rainwater. They always have a bowl of water available though, and drink from that too. If she doesn't get water from the shower or bath, she will soon realise she has to use her own.

Is so frustrating Pix ( for her)
My dogs like to lick the ground after rain and when the irrigation is on. I ignore it. You could try to fill her bowl from the shower with her watching!!

Have you tried something like this?
All mine have loved water from my water butt. So when I can I put that in the water dish. Perhaps she's like that Bobbi?
I suspect they aren't keen on the chlorine in water, but it does evaporate. If they have little choice I think they will drink it- but it might take a few days before it really becomes a habit.

Thank you all
Have an empty bowl and have a bottle of tap water in the fridge.
When she goes to her empty bowl, pour the cold water in front of her. She will learn that it isn’t warm stagnant water that has stood for hours, but fresh cool water.

Strange you say that Sunk, she’ll drink from her bowl when she sees us changing the water in it
Thanks
Many dogs hardly ever drink from bowls and prefer rainwater and drinking from puddles.
I have quite a few dog walking friends who come to my house. I offer them a cup of tea, and get a bowl for their dog. They will say he/she won’t drink that. I pour cold water for the dog and much to the amazement of the owner, the dog drinks it. And it is not a fluke, revisiting dogs drink and their owners say they don’t at home.

Very good advice Sunk ( from everyone) I’ll try the bottle in the fridge today
Thanks again
I’ll be interest to know if it work :-)

(If it does, remember to empty the bowl after she has drank)
Imagine if you had to drink from a bowl of stagnant water. Of course they prefer fresh and clean.
david small

What they really prefer is fresh and dirty :-)
Question Author
