Yes I normally like this series but I'm finding the latest offering boring. I didn't like seeing the sawing up of the deer and I still don't agree with the "necessry" culling. Who gave humans the right to think they know best, its all for the benefit of humans. Once all human life has expired the animals will roam freely and live and die their lives naturally. The...

Do they eat the meat?
Question Author
Fortunately there were no deer around , then I switched over
I eat venison, wild deer have a much better life than most farmed animals, and usually a better death.

I’m not a vegetarian but the Scottish Government give permission to cull so many of these beautiful animals and I don’t know why?
What harm are they doing?
There is plenty of info online about the management of deer, Bobbi, and why it is necessary

Call me blinkered Barry but I’d rather not read it ( sorry )
It is better for the animal than being rounded up, shoved in a lorry and taken to a slaughterhouse.
Sleighed?
I don't know a lot, but as I understand it, culling can be necessary so that those animals that live can have a better quality of life. Sometimes there are just too many of them and populations need to be managed. Wild animals starving seems far worse than wild animals that are culled and their meat used to feed us.
I like Ben Fogle, but I like his wife more :)

Who gave humans the right to think they know best, its all for the benefit of humans. Once all human life has expired the animals will roam freely and live and die their lives naturally. The strong will survive and the weak will die. And no trophy hunters will be able to kill for fun, animals, in the majority, kill to survive.
i didn't see this - but am sick of seeing animals kill other animals, i know its nature and all that, but recent programmes have shown so many, including a pride of lions take down an elephant, which was the last straw for me -
As I am reading this, there are 5 deer in the field behind our house, including Hopalong with her gammy leg who has been around for years and reared quite a few babes. The don't run from us or our dog. Culling can be necessary, but I hate thinking about it.
Susan, lots of animals kill for fun too. Are you vegetarian or vegan?
We went to see Ben Vogel give a talk regarding his adventures at a small venue some years back. He was great and so natural and talked for two hours without any notes. He also was a delight on the eye. And I love his voice. But I just can't watch anything these days involving animals being killed or injured or cruelly treated. I'm not vegetarian. I might be if it wasn't for rare steak!!
It's bacon that does it for a lot of would be vegetarians :D It's the only thing that really tempts my vegan daughter
Rarely have bacon these days Barry! What I can't understand is why I like my steak very rare and bloody, but can't handle raw chicken or any poultry. Perhaps I was a vampire in an earlier life!
