Like anteaters, all four of the following animals have long snouts and long sticky tongues for eating insects such as ants and termites. However, only one is actually a member of the anteater family. Which is it? D) The tamandua The African aardvark, the Asian and African pangolin, the Australian echidna and numbat, and the South American anteaters (including the tamandua) provide a striking example of "evolutionary convergence" - the existence of a similar set of adaptations in unrelated creatures.
