She's scratching a lot and when I've looked she's pulling away, there appears to be a small reddish laceration there, any suggestions on what I can use t treat it? I've sprayed her with flea repellent but don't want to spray her so near her delicate bits
Thanks in advance

Does she have fleas? Sounds unusual for a flea bite to me
Question Author
I haven't seen any on her at all and she's not scratching all the time
Are you sure it's a fleabite Bobbi? I've recently taken my dog to the vet with a similar mark on his leg. The vet says he was probably bitten or stung by something, or it was a mark left after a tick bite. He gave me some steroid cream for him.
We looked after our sons Jack Russel a few times lately.
I have had two bites on my arm, one on knee and one on ankle.
Maybe no connection to the dog. Just curious.

I think I'll pop to the vets with her in that case ILM, good advice
Thanks Bobbi, I really don't think it's fleas. If he gives you cream, I hope you have more luck than me stopping your dog from trying to lick it off!
Do spray repellents actually work?
I've always avoided them as I'd had the impression they weren't very effective.
I'll bet the wound is her scratching.

I'd treat it at home like this:- https://www.pdsa.org.uk/taking-care-of-your-pet/pet-health-hub/medications/first-aid-for-cuts-and-grazes

What flea repellent are you using? I normally find the spot on ones more effective.
You’d take your dog to the vet for something so minor?

Not sure Pasta , I've just rang our vets ( website says open) but no one to take my call due to Covid
Question Author
Thanks BM, I'll look at that and Sherr, yes I would
Doesn’t it stress her out?
Question Author
She's rarely at the vets thankfully but I don't want to run the risk of this becoming infected
My dog has just started to scratch incessantly and my sharp-eyed daughter can find no fleas on him. However, his skin does appear to be on the pink side and the last time this happened was about 18 months back when the vet diagnosed a reaction to a bite from a flea or tick. She prescribed a tablet which Milo wolfed down with his food. He stopped 'flecking' after a few days and he's not had a problem since - until now, that is. The bill back then was £75 but, given the length of the effect the tablet had, worth it, imho.
That's quite bad the vet's not answering Bobbi - what if you had an emergency? My vet answers after a long-winded message, but then you are able to get an appointment. I can now take my dog into the vet's, last time I went I had to wait outside and they took him from me. I assumed all vets were operating the same now.
Bobbi, you're better off using a good spot on like barmaid said...then spray your house with either Indorex, or R.I.P. They kill for 6-12 months.
Question Author
They do give a number if it's an emergency ILM but as it's not I don't want to call it
Oh I see.
Question Author
I'm going to do that Pasta, thanks all
Its a good idea to have something in your doggie medicine chest for bites and such.
