Badgers are the largest native UK carnivore. So any left over meat (bacon etc.) will do. Of course, if times are hard, it will eat pretty well anything, so put out different stuff and if it is still there in the morning, they didn't like it! You may have to watch out for cats on the scrounge as well!!
As they visited you without being fed first, your garden has obviously something they like. How lucky you are! Peanuts are a real treat - their natural diet consists of everything from slugs, earthworms to fruit - I wouldn't put raw meat out of any kind as this could encourage rats.Just carry on what you're doing - add dog food if you wish and just enjoy your visitors!
You used to be able to get Hedgehog food from the lies of petsmart which would almost certainly be suitable.

Please remember though that natural food is abundant for them at this time and you should not encourage reliance on human intervention - badgers can be dangerous - especially to children and pets and can harbour all sorts of diseases and parasites.
