Not sure if this is in the right section, however its about a dog so hopefully somebody can help. I could not believe my eyes when I came out of a local firework display on Saturday evening to see a dog sat in somebodys car - it was going crazy jumping around. I have the registration/car details, can I report this person and if so who too? Thanks in advance

The RSPCA would be the best people. I once rung them because my local off license had a dog sitting in their back yard all day and it was barking constantly. The poor thing was just left on it's own. They went and investigated and the dog was never left out there again. So look up the number for you nearest RSCPA. Good luck and well done
Good luck :-) glad you took the reg and details but not sure whether the RSPCA would be able to do anything, you didn't happen to record it on a mobile or something?? Just think that because it has happened/isn't happening they won't have any proof other than your word :-( .... Really hope that they can do something though, that dog owner obviously needs to be left in a car with grenades/rocket launchers going off around him/her, I mean some people seriously are just soooo thick and irresponsible it makes me really mad .... poor doggy :-(
Yes, I would have reported it too. Such thoughtless owners don't deserve the right to own an animal as a pet and hopefully if the RSPCA are able to follow up it will make them think twice about their animal's welfare in future.
I agree it does seem to be cruel but some dogs are not afraid of fireworks, my spaniel was inside wanted to go out , instead of letting her run free in the garden I put her on a lead, she took absolutely no notice on the bangs or flashes, in fact I was more bothered than she was. She has not gone shooting but a gun dog often has an inbred ability to ignore the noise etc

The fireworks display you attended would have scared many, many animals that night. The majority of victims being the wildlife. They cannot be locked indoors.

The problem with the some pets aren't scared view is that I know from experience that it only takes one bad experience to change a totally laid back gundog (two actually) to panic stricken animals. The change was permanent caused by one next door neighbour with one of those super gazoonie whole display just light the tube things. The noise and the light was intense, immediate and, since it was only october, totally unexpected. The dogs were out in the garden having a pee and as I wasn't expecting fireworks, they were out there alone.

So now I take extra precautions. Sad but true.

you can report it to the police and the RSPCA as the police are responisble for investigating this matter and if nessecary taking legal action.
