As I am feeding fodder for mosquitoes, I douse myself in repellent several times a day and so far so good. Bites are at a minimum. But this early evening, because they cannot get to my limbs, I have at the moment 3 bites near my eye. Does anyone know if it safe to put repellent on face??
I am a little wary.

I would think that if you keep your eyes shut while applying it, and you don't have major allergies you'd be ok.

Have you tried eating Marmite? It's supposed to repel mozzies.
Have you tried the Avon product Skin So soft Sharon. It's supposed to be a great repellent and you could use that on your face. I so know how you feel. First summer at this cottage last year and I was covered in bites. Got some jungle spray and that did the trick. Wouldn't use it on my face though. Good luck x
From your own government's website:
"Do not apply near eyes and mouth, and apply sparingly around ears.
When using sprays, do not spray directly into face; spray on hands first and then apply to face"

Cloverjo, I hate Marmite but I have heard some folks smear it on their skin.

Maizie I have some skin so soft so will try it.

Thanks.
Hi, Sharon...let me know how you get on with Skin so Soft please...

I've just ordered some because I've had three badly infected bites lately.......one made me quite ill.....this was recommended on AB so I'm going to give it a go....plus upping the Guinness intake......taking up smoking again......and hanging sticky fly papers from my hat....x
Thanks, Tony....didn't know that...will have a rethink.... :-(
It will keep the mossies away though, gness.
OH got badly bitten by mozzies in South Africa and bought some pills from a pharmacy. I think they helped. I don't know if they're available here. Might be worth asking.

I love Marmite, but I wouldn't want to put it on my skin.
Mmmm...I seem to need that these days, Tony....but will investigate Deet a bit more....x
I just checked my bottle of skin so soft and it does not contain DEET. It does have citronella in it which is used to deter mozzies.
There's no DEET in Skin So Soft Dry Oil Spray - it's a nasty falsehood put around by the 'anti chemical' nutters.
Life can be so confusing..... :-(

A small number of folks have been hospitalized because of deet overuse.
Worrying. I have bought with me lots of long sleeved sheer tops which is helping. Tomorrow Gness I will let you know how I got on.
Sharon....my two really serious bites were up the leg of my trousers!

I now have bicycle clips..... ;-)
And a tight belt I hope ...
Oh heck......I thought they'd gone up.....you think they may have gone down?.....Right....

I'm investing in onesies.......bicycle clips......and a veil...... :-)
...and surgical gloves......no chance of pulling......but I won't be bitten!!!!!!...x
