"follow Contributor" Function

It would be very interesting to me to be able to "follow" certain interesting and erudite contributors, a la Twitter, in the same way that I can currently follow question and answer threads. I could of course keep a list of such contributors and them search for them each by name, but this would be a very long winded and time consuming activity which would be made very much easier should there be a "follow contributor" button.

I could see that being vulnerable to abuse. Not that folk need such a tool to troll someone consistently, but it'd make it simpler for them.

I don't see a problem, as long as there's a 'don't follow' option for potential stalkees worried about surveillance. :-)
