poor friend taking her dog out on boxing day slipped on the ice and landed on her little dog breaking its hip so spent all morning at the vets what awful thing to happen

Awful, but all will probably be well. Stepson's new puppy ran up to daughter's horse, yapping, and received a huge kick in the chest which broke breastbone and dislocated front legs. It's taken 3 months, but said puppy is now running about happily (and avoiding horses!)>
