Went to park tonight with Mr Harv and this park is lovely but now tortured with underage drinkers. At the last 10 mins of going home I let Harv off the lead to have a wee run about. This is a game we play. When he runs I hide behind a tree and then pop out at him. However, there he was looking for me and walking up the pathway when 4 girls and a fella about 16 passed him and one of the girls lifted her foot and kicked him in his wee shoulder near the thyroid. She didn't realise I was behind the tree - I said "why did you do that" - "he was going to bite me" - no I saw it all I dont think so - he has never bitten in 9 years - but she shrugged it off. Park wardens have no authority over these drinkers so contact police who right enough came into the park - I approached them and they said it is a problem in most of the parks. But I said but sure when they see you they run - hopeless situation. Wee b tch! Bless him and him not well.

Kicked him near the thyroid?
Question Author
kicked him around his throat where he has cancer of the thyroid.
Oh right, you should have kicked her
So you actually let your dog off the lead in a park full of p!ssheads?

I felt like it Elvis believe you me. but the young are too strong for me - I wouldn't have done it of course that would be beneath me. I did say to the police re the incident and the policewoman said could you point her out. My Gawd - don't they all look the same - long straight hair - denim shorts etc etc - no there were hundreds of young people there tonight.
Surely they wasn't all dressed in denim shorts with long straight hair?
Question Author
Craft we were on our way home - this wee girl probably thought the dog was a stray so decided to give him a kick for good measure. They weren't all p s heads - some of the kids did apologise for her behaviour - when I spoke to the policelady - she told me a few weeks ago she brought home a 12 year old girl drunk one night and the mother started on her like a ton of bricks - saying "none of your business" etc - so it starts with the parents.
Question Author
Elvis - they are believe it or not like octuplets - one looks the same to me as the other and I didn't get a good look at her cos I was concerned about Harv being hurt. I was tending to him.
Is he ok now, conne?
I love all animals but I believe in a public place dogs should be on a leash at all times. I'm sorry your dog was kicked, maybe next time you will think before you allow him to run free in a public place.
Connie, octuplets are 8 children. Are you serious?
Hope he's okay Conn, perhaps as others have said probably not a good idea to let him off in a park full of hundreds of young people
Conne, I may have the wrong end of the stick here. Have you said in the past that you are deaf?
Question Author
jeza I am deaf - but not blind - is that anything to do with this situation.:) It is summer time (is it) but when the park is empty Harv gets a good run around - won't happen again - but never gave it a thought re the young people.
I really get upset when things like this happen - its horrid and cruel. I hope the dog is OK Connemmara. She will probably never have had a dog or looked after one and the fact that she wanted to hurt the dog I cant understand but she has a problem. You wont be the only one to have experienced this behaviour.

The only thing I can think of is if the dog walkers know eachother and get together they might do something at the park. You should be able to let the dog run around safely now and gain but maybe play it by ear for a while and see what you think. Anyone would find it hard to deal with a gang on their own - I think it can be tricky - you dont want them targeting you or hitting or kicking you.

Connemara, Karma is a wonderful thing and im a big believer that what goes around, comes around. Just wait your time and im sure the little scroat will have a similar fate done to her.

Hope your dog's ok
