It looked full last night.

Waning Gibbous (98% full)
Just checked on Full moon calendar site, says 28th December.
A full moon only lasts for a few minutes as the earth, sun and moon are constantly moving. In fact, technically, it is only ever 99.999% full. At the time of asking my answer showed the accurate 'phase'.
You obviously know a lot more about it than I do, Zacs. I say daft things like , 'It's a full moon again tonight, just like last night' Shows how much I know.
It wasn't daft Tilly. I was just trying to educate in the true AB tradition. You can amaze your friends down the pub with this fact now, like me ;-)
O.k. Zacs, I'll remember that. What does Waning Gibbous mean? I know what waning and waxing means nut what's the Gibbous bit?
^ but, not nut!
When the moon is past half full and on its way to being 'full'. The winter nights just fly by down my local with me around.
Right got that. Next question, why is it a waning Gibbeous when it's not reached the 'zenith' of its fullness. Shouldn't it be waxing?
We could have a drink together talking about this Zacs. I think we'd be on our own though!
My apologies, you are of course correct. Mines a pint of crime de menth.
............and mines's a dry white wine. We could look at our Ordnance Survey maps as well.
Ha ha. I'm just trying to buy a GPS device but Go Outdoors are playing silly beggars.
This is a handy little site

what're you after a gps for zacs?
Walking sloopy. Been looking at a Memory Map 2800 and Garmin 450.
He's looking for another pub in the vicinity because the one he goes to is always empty.
LOL
Cheeky. Actually it's very busy. It just seems to empty when I walk in for some strange reason.
Zac, I love these sort of discussions that regularly arise over a pint. A favourite subject in our pub is can you actually be buried at sea? when burial implies digging a hole, putting some thing in the hole and then filling the hole up again.
