Problem Moggie!

I have 2 cats both male and both neutered. They are brothers and 3 years old. One of them has picked up a habit over the last year of weeing. He will mostly do it on my clothes and behind the TV. His litter tray is cleaned daily and i have tried a plug in scent thingy and cat nip but he wont stop! He knows he has done wrong as he scuttles as soon as he has done it! Please help - we have just moved into a new home and he has done this on 2 brand new carpets. My other half has said he will get him rehomed if he continues. Any advice? Thanks x

I use a small water pistol on my cats if they jump on the kitchen units to try and pinch something and they hate it. My female cat is starting to get a bit senile and started trying to use my bedroom as a toilet although she has a litter tray in the bathroom which is cleaned daily. I used to wake up when I heard her scratting around trying to 'get comfy' and grab my pistol and she was off, but it didn't stop her trying again, so I've found the only solution is to make her stay out at night.
If your cat is doing it during the daytime I really don't know what to suggest and perhaps if no one else comes up with any ideas it would be best to see your vet about it. Your new house will end up stinking and you don't want that. You don't want your cats separated because they've been together from birth and it will be distressing for both of them, not to mention to you as well.
I hope you can find a solution, I'd be interested to hear what it is.
My sister has a male neutered cat who has a tendency to want to wee on anything new that appears in his house - I suppose it's a way of marking his territory.
If we ever go to stay we have to make sure our bags are securely locked away as they are prime targets for his attention!
Not much advice to offer I'm afraid, my sister just makes sure she watches her cat like a hawk when he's in the house so that he doesn't get chance to wee. Her cat is 10 now and has done the same thing all his life so he's not going to change now! He is free to leave the house whenever he likes through his cat-flap so it's definitely a territorial thing for him.
You say that you have just moved into a new house, it might be because of the upheaval of the move and new enviroment, its a stressful time for us humans moving home so it could affected him too. Have a talk to your vet he probably give you some advice,it would be a real shame if you end up rehoming him, I wish you all the best and hope you can solve this problem soon.

I have a trick which I've used many times in seemingly hopeless cases of inappropriate weeing. Your cat has decided that the spots that he has chosen are now his toilets, you have to now let him know that these are not places to wee. Fill lots of little bowls with cat biscuits & put them in all the places that he is wrongly using. keep topping them up as they get eaten. You may have to keep this going for quite a while. Cats will not pee where they eat, so you will be retraining him that these places are NOT his loo & eventually you will be able to remove the bowls.
It might sound a bit daft, but give it a go because it's worked loads of times for me. Good luck!
If you haven't already, I'd go to the Vet & just check he hasn't got cystitis as this can cause cats to change their toilet habits.
