When a wall has been freshly plastered should it be treated with something before it's emulsioned.

I have used a diluted glue before now but IMO it was more of a nuisance than it was worth. I'd just use a diluted coat of emulsion first and then just slap normal further coats on that.

Mix up some emulsion 50/50 with water and give it two coats of that first.

After allowing it to dry completely give it a couple of coats of watered down emulsion before putting on the topcoats. These mists coats as they are called will seal the new plaster allowing the new paint to adhere to the plaster and help stop it from peeling or bubbling in the future. Never use PVA or similar as this may cause the top coats to bubble.
