Wow, that was amazing to watch. It looks quite barbaric when the mother kicks the baby around, made me wince a little. Ouch. But she knew what she was doing...wonderful. Thanks for posting.

Thanks for posting wolf. I must say I didn't like the look of the hard floor that she had to give birth on. Some straw of sand wouldn't have gone amiss I don't think.

There's no straw or sand on the hard sun-baked ground they walk on in the wild ladybirder.
Don't worry, they're made of tough stuff.

Ladybirder. You may notice that the birth canal extends down and the calf is already touching the floor before it is finally expelled completely. The gushing of the fluid make it look a lot more severe than what is actually is. As Mojo-jo-jo says; they are made of touch stuff. In the wild they usually have another female in attendance that has calving experience, but this clever animal knew what to do instinctively. Isn't Nature wonderful?
