Our Chickens only lay eggs during the day, is this normal?

Yes. They are unlikely to lay at night because, believe it or not, they are asleep!
Given the choice, chickens will roost off the ground on perches. This could make egg-laying a problem.
If there's a rooster around they get laid during the night.

Thanks all, I would have thought they could have hopped into the nesting box to quickly pop out an egg or two.

No rooster, what sort of a coop do you think im running!! No shananagans in my coop if you dont mind!!
