Has anyone bought one of the automatic laser toys for their cat? Something like this Amazon.co.uk User Recommendation

I have a little laser pointer which drives them nuts but I get fed up long before they do.

Are they robust and practical?

My daughters cat had one, drove him demented for a week or 2 then seemed to get wise to it and now totally ignores it.

Yeah I wondered about that. I might wait and see what anyone else thinks.- One of the beasts is on steroids and is cuddlier than usual. I was hoping to give him some exercise, chasing his sister around the house is his usual game. Alas when he catches up with her she usually beats the cr*p out of him.
Please use caution... the typical insturctor's laser pointer can damage the animals eyes if direct exposure occurs for over a few seconds...

Clanad - when I first bought a little laser pointer I was uncertain about using it for the reason that you have stated. But more and more devices are being produced, I would like to think that they have been tested and found to be safe.

The wee lad has feline asthma and when we played with the little laser pointer the other night he was really wheezy with the exertion, so it is maybe not the 'perfect' toy after all.
