I adopted a 5year old GSD/Lab 5 year old un-neutered male in 1992. He didn't chew in the house and was very loving and excellent company. Outside he was aggressive and overprotective with a total distrust of all living creatures.

When he died at the age of 14 he had mellowed - slightly. I miss him.

I have a Cairn Terrier I got from the USPCA. It has only one fault. It barks at any animals it sees on the TV. So in a way it now picks what we can watch.

There have been two retired sprinters in my life and they had perfect manners.

We have a staffy, rehomed when he was 8. Broke the one golden rule of getting a dog and met them in a motorway svs station! He's a fantastic dog, settled straight in, no accidents, not destructive and good on his own for hours on end. Had him over 2 years now.

Oh god Sandy, my westie is a TV watcher.............he even recognises the music on TV soaps and adverts which pre-empt the appearance of another dog, and he sits staring waiting for them to appear before he goes mental.

lol...I took on a standard poodle at 7 months. I can't say he was destructive, just the odd unimportant thing here and there...but the one and only book he ever chewed was called Living with Poodles :o)

had cody now for nearly a year,he is a lurcher,pure black with a lovely shiny coat and three legs,very mischevious and playful,keeps pulling your socks off,hiding shoes and slippers,pulling your trouser legs,he is a gannet and would eat anything,even steals food,but we love him and here he'll stay.

We got a labradoodle about 6 months ago from The Blue Cross. She is perfect around the house, but like yours, she goes pretty mental outside when she sees some other dogs and wants to lunge and chase eveything on four wheels which passes.

The funniest thing happened yesterday, a lost lamb came running up to her thinking she was it's mother.....the lamb was only about a foot away when her real mum baaaed to her and she skipped off in the opposite direction. To be fair, our dog does look like a sheep.

jedimistress -I was out walking the psycho hound some years back. He was on an extending lead and wearing a halti. A little boy ran up to him (I didn't see this) and put his arms around Robbie's neck and said "nice horsey". It was actually quite sweet and Robbie actually behaved.

danchip - did the dogs get on? I would like a dog but there are more reasons NOT to get one that reasons why it would be a good idea.


Booldawg - staffies get such bad press. They are a status symbol for the wrong type of people and they are being bred by people who do not know what they are doing.

For now I will stick to my moggies - much more vicious and dangerous than any of your hounds. They aren't very obedient either. ;-)
