Black Redstart in Fife

Yesterday, I found a rare visitor to Fife. As far as I can tell there are just three or 4 birds reported every year from this region.

At first, I didn't know what it was but it was later identified as a Black Redstart.

Well spotted gen2. My best sighting today was a woodcock, very run of the mill on the Yorks coast.

Thanks Redman, but the info on that site seems to be over a week out of date.

It is a bit erratic with updates but as a lot of the visitors hang around a few days its always worth checking out any good stuff in your area in case its still about. Have you got a local online forum theres a really good one for north wales and I have seen others for different parts of the UK... local birders tend to post with regular updates.

Rowanwitch, thanks for the useful info and appreciate your help but it is of no great concern to me. I am not a twitcher and have no interest in running after what others have found. I am primarily an amateur photographer with a keen interest in nature and as such I like to think I am observant and try to learn something about what I see, be it bird, mammal or plant. That is how I realised the wee bird I was looking at wasn't one of the regular suspects.
