Well I watched it right through because the dog is just so loveable. And the music took me right back to the early 70's and being in Greece with my lovely Mr LL (Demis Roussos) and I loved the music. But I hate the thought of performing dolphins being in a tank and entertaining humans (which those in the film obviously were)
Well I enjoyed it, sentimental twaddle or not! I thought that it was lovely, if a bit long. although I couldn't work out who the dog actually belonged to, not being fluent in ??
Oh dear ! I was ok until 6' 50".
That hasn't happened for a long time - brought it all back to me, I used to bawl at the end of Skippy, Flipper and Belle And Sebastien.
Damn you !
This was compiled from clips from the film "zeus and roxanne" which was made in 1997 (MGM production). I'd be interested to know how well are you 'informed' of MGM's policies on animal welfare/handling.
The directed tricks the dophins did were not natural (the movements were natural but how they happened were not) - this suggested that the filming was contrived - the dog was great but unlikely to have formed a bond with the fish -has any one translated the sub titles? suggest they were not profound. A very touching story but not likely to be true - this is answerbank - and my answer stands.
"unlikely to have formed a bond with the fish" ?
So you are 'informed' up to the point where you don't know the difference between a fish and a cetacean then - brilliant.
So it's 'contrived' and *schmaltzy* (tut tut Mark) big deal !
If you can't just accept it for what it is, why not just ignore it and let the rest of us sad f*ckers who still have some aimless sentimentality have our moment ?
(Loooby, the film was fine - I crumbled at 6.50 !)
