Rabbit hay/straw???

What is the difference between hay and straw for rabbits and do they have different purposes?

Straw is for bedding and Hay is for eating.

Mus add they often nibble the straw but it does not have any use in their diet as such.

Also are two girl rabbits better or two boy rabbits? I'm getting different advice.

I also have two children 3 and 7 who will be looking after them so would prefer a sex that will be friendlier. They already have a dog and hamster so they are already caring and careful with animals.

Straw comes from wheat, barley and oats etc and used for bedding, hay is dried grass for eating.
