Call the RSPB unless you have a wildlife rescue near you
Just googled RSPB and they don't actually deal with sick or injured birds!
http://www.rspb.org.u...lth/injuredbirds.aspx
They recommend taking it to a vet or contacting the RSPCA (some chance) but I would find your nearest wildlife hospital and get them to take it if its still there tomorrow
I took one to the vets,It had a tag on it's leg, The vet was able to contact the owner, The owner said he didn't want to pay the bill so the vet put it to rest.
Frankly, wring its neck or shoot it.
Hit it over the bead with a shovel. Bleedin sky rats.
I'd go for the shovel option...............
Do you have a receipe for penguin, gen2?
Penguins are a protected species, pigeons aren't.
It would only be ringed if it was a racing pigeon. If you can see a ring there is a number to contact the racing pigeon authorities. Probably a common or garden pigeon though.
I would get it to the vets, I took one once, and they let it go once it was well enough. Can you get a neighbour to take you?
I very much suspect the vet it go to heaven.
please send it to its maker with the minimum of fuss, its only a pigeon
just leave it alone, nature will take it's course, we've had a few of them die in our garden.
I can't believe some of the replies here. Pigeon it may be, but it is still a living, breathing creature, and it feels pain the same as you and I. If you can't get it to someone who can look after it, can you try again to catch it and maybe feed and water it and keep it in a largish airy box/crate and perhaps it will heal on its own. (Does it have a racing ring on its leg?)
mumsie wumsie, pigeons are classed as vermin. No vet is going to give time treating it without payment.
Vermin that is ill or in pain should be put out of its misery as soon as possible.
Yes,maybe, but do it humanely, not hit with a shovel as has been suggested. That is totally barbaric.
That's your emotions. A pigeon won't know what's hit it.
If it kills it quickly, well and good.
Sorry, will have to agree to disagree....
Even if it's a ringed racing pigeon the owner will probably neck it any way, if it won't fly it's no good for racing
