I have had 2 goldfish for a couple of years. The kids talked me into buying a new one on Tuesday and Buzz and Zurg went in the huff! This morning I thought they were dead as they were lying on the bottom of the tank. When I went to look at them they swam about but both had their dorsal fin flat on their back. This went on for a while so I put some food in and Tails joined them to eat but their fins were still flat. I filled a dish with some of the tank water and took Tails out for 5 minutes and immediately the other 2 swam round and round and their dorsal fins were held aloft!!

Well I was astounded and put tails back. Now they are still ignoring Tails a little bit but at least they look normal again.  Just wanted to share that with you!

i've had goldfish after goldfish for about 10 years now, and whenever I had a group of 3 there was always a pair which hung about together and a loner, usually the new one. Even if i had goldfish A B and C, and C was the loner, if A died and I introduced D, B would pal up with C and leave D to his lonesome. Oh those fickle fishies.
Nowadays I stick to just having two... means I don't have to clean the tank or change the water quite as often!
