Posted a thread earlier about a bably Blackbird on Animals and Nature, to cut a long story short, a cat had raided the nest, and I had saved one chick, but it hopped out of the nest and I couldn't find it earlier, I have now found it, put it back in the nest again, but there is no sign of the parents returning, it's getting cold out there now!.......should I leave it there or bring it indoors and try to feed it?..........any help would be greatly appreciated!........

To be perfectly honest, I don't think there is much you can do.
A friend had one in her garden lately and she cut up a worm for it - ok, you've got to find a worm (and then cut it up) but it might be worth a try.
Read your earlier thread, personally I would leave it and hope the parents come back, they may be waiting till you go away
Because of your scent on the bird, the parents will likely kill or leave it. If they don't return, the baby will drown. If you are prepared to take it as a pet and research taking care of it, go get it, but wait 5 or 10 minutes to see if the parents come back. If you aren't, you were a good person helping it out in the first place anyhow.

Thanks for your answers all, I have left them to it now!........read on the RSPB site that often chicks spend a day or to on the ground just before they can fly while their feathers fully develop, so maybe that's what was going on before the cat arrived, just hope that by putting the chick back in the nest, I haven't interferred with this!......will look in the morning!.....Fingers crossed for the little guy!............

Tezt, thanks, I would rather allow it's parents to care for the little bird, my son brought back many baby birds back years ago, they had fallen out of the nest mainly, sadly they never survived, despite us feeding them regularly etc, and so I am reluctant to take this route really!...........
Hiya Welsh! Fingers crossed for the wee bird. x

Have you seen this website? It's fab. There's not much going on at the mo, as it's late..... Media URL: http://www.bbc.co.uk/nature/uk/webcams/
Description:
Well that didn't work, did it...... :o(
How do you know which end of a worm is which?

See which end is smiling!

wolf, found one!............put him in the nest, sadly the parents, although they are around and still calling haven't gone back there, it's dusk now, and so I think maybe since they found the nest empty earlier, they won't go back, in which case, the little guy will die from being cold/hungry!.........

Let's see if that one works....

Thanks Mrs C!............added to my favourites, will watch their progress with great interest!..........
You'll love it during the day, Welsh, when the little 'uns are being fed.
There isn`t anything you can do. The parents probably wouldn`t go back to the nest now anyway as blackbirds are not nocturnal birds. The best you can hope for is that the parents come back for it in the morning. It won`t die of the cold. The parents wouldn`t be sitting on a fledgeling in the nest at this late state anyway. The biggest risk at the moment is from cats. Even if you rescued it, you would never be able to release it into the wild because the parents have to teach it to fend for itself. Providing it isn`t too contaminated with human scent the parents might hear it in the morning and come back. They`re quite good and keeping an eye on where fledgelings are.

brenda, thanks, I have everything crossed!...........will check in the morning!.........
Sadly, it might've died of shock. It doesn't take much.
full credit to you for trying welsh..lets hope the little bird survives...x
Everything crossed peeps. x

I once took a budgie to the vet and the vet injected the poor wee bird twice. I did think it rather unwise but didn't like to question the vet's actions. The bird died in my hands. So sad.
