This whole site might prove very useful to you.

(I hope it isn't what I suspect, and wish you all the best)

Thanks lottie,
We have been to the vets and she did slides of there pooh, there was no sign of coccidosis which was good but there signs of a serious infection that she thought it looked like e-coli under the scope, there are alot of different strains so it would be difficult to find out which one. they both have to kept isolated, we have to wear gloves and bin all the pooh as soon as they have done one, she gave us Baytril 2.5 to add to there water, But that is all we can do at the moment, She did say to expect the worse and both chicks have it.

Hi Red,
No not yet, I did ring him this morning to say that the chicks were ill, All he said was bring them back and he would swap them, Knowing him he would most probably kill them so beeing soft we went to the vets instead, I will ring him later, It always seems to happen to us,
I actually think you need to report the farm to someone. Phone your local district council and discuss it with environmental health. This should be taken seriously. Glad you didn't take them back to swap them. I would have done the same as you.

I hope they do get better. Poor little things.

I just spoke to the breeder, He has 2 dead at the moment and 7 dying, There must have been 100 chicks in there, I feel sick thinking about it.

Yes, Red is right, your Vet will actually notify the relevant authority. They did for me. I think they have a duty to do so if farm animals are brought into them with notifyable diseases and this sounds suspect.

I got mixed up. Environmental Health had to be notified by my Gp when I got a notifiable disease - nothing to do with chickens! Forget what I said about notifying your council!!
sorry to hear about your chics - sad - but everyone is right you need to report it to DEFRA immediately as the person youbought from could be selling chics to other people and the consequences could be dire
