Strange cat behaviour

My cat who is usually quite well behaved at night was acting very strangely last night. She would not leave me alone, alternately rustling everything within radius and jumping on me. She was purring all the time too. I got up to give her some food, water and change her litter, but she didn't stop. When i got up, she followed me around meowing and purring, but in a far more frantic way than usual. Has anyone had the same experience? She is usually so docile and sleeps by my feet. Thank you

Needing a bit extra TLC at that time maybe?
murph does this sometimes i have no idea why!
Smoke did this a couple of weeks back. Much purring & mewing & following me around for no apparent reason.
if she isn't speyed she's maybe coming into season
Could be in season, or could be that there was an unknown cat in her territory and it spooked her.
Have you changed anything in the house, moved furniture etc, cats hate change and it can make them insecure even a change of soapowder used to affect one of mine,
How old is she?
Cats also purr when they are in pain.

Your cat's behaviour sounds strangely like that of one of the fostered cats I had just before she gave birth to a litter of 5 kittens.
I had same as Daffy.... The cat I adopted, was supposed to have been neutered. Four adorable but unexpected kittens explained why she'd been so loving but noisy for three days! She didn't appear remotely pregnant!
