Horse vettings

I recently had a horse 5 stage vetted, and he failed. The owner then had him vetted again herself by her own vet a week later, and he passed with flying colours. We want him vetted again by one of our own vets to make sure he is 100% sound. Are we bound by law to inform this new vet of the previous two vettings, or can we let him assume it is the first one?

whether or not it is law it would be a curtesy to inform the third vet. As for an owner having their vet examine their horse, this is certainly not the norm and not in the interest of the buyer. I'm not suggesting the vendor's vet would pass an unsound horse but you need to fully protect your interests in the best possible way - in my opinion paying yourself for the vetting is the only way to guarantee this.
