Siamese cats are well known for being vocal. He is talking to you for attention.
Question Author
thanks but his whining is on a constant basis and he is not attention deprived.
If you wanted a quiet cat you should have avoided Siamese like the plague. As reefgal said, they are famous for being vocal. They 'whine' as you put it for absolutely no reason.
Has your cat been neutered?
Question Author
oh yeah and he's declawed. i was just wondering if there was a way to get him not to be so vocal all the time
You declawed him? That is a barbaric practice and one very much frowned upon by real animal lovers. I presume you are in the USA as the practice is illegal here in the UK.
There is no way to get him to quiet down,it is just the way of the breed.
Question Author
yes i am in the US . i am a animal lover but getting him declawed is what saved me from replacing my furniture since he wouldn't use a scratching post.

If you are that bothered about your furniture then don't get a pet.People like you make me really angry! so I will comment no further on this post.
I completely agree daffy!

If you care so much about your sofa and furniture, why get a cat in the first place??
I think people who have their cats declawed should try having THEIR nails removed and see how they feel afterwards.
No Apologies.
Question Author
why must you all be so cruel. i didn't get him declawed by choice. my husband had it done. and as for him always being vocal that started when i moved him away from a home where there were four other cats all female so i thought that might have something to do with why he whines all the time
Sorry, but it is disgusting to declaw a cat, as said above it is illegal in the uk, and campaigning is underway to have the practice outlawed in the US as well, and the sooner the better but sadly it will be too late for your poor cat.
