My 5 month old Kitten has suddenly started having a poo in the bathroom sink, The litter tray is in the bathroom she has always used it with no problems and the litter tray hasn't changed and i also haven't changed the litter. So i am baffled as to why she is doing this, she still has a wee in the tray but just won't poo in it?

Sorry, but you do say the litter tray hasn't changed. Perhaps you havent changed it enough! And although I know fine well that what you mean by I also haven't changed the litter, perhaps you should!

But you also say she still has a wee in the tray but just won't poo in it. Perhaps you should change the quantity rather than the quality. Cats are more fastidious about burying poo than wee!

How else would your very junior and therefore more than average-non-humanly communicatively challenged little pusscat adumbrate these issues?

On the other hand she may still be trying to work out whether shes human, and a bit confused about the porcelain!
Hi, leela:

Not trying to teach you to suck eggs, as they say. But in my experience, cats prefer the litter tray cleaned out on a very regular basis - even after they've only "been" a few times.

I know that they can't "talk to us" as we would understand it, but they are fastidiously clean as a rule and, to be slightly crude about it, it would be like asking any of us to go back and use a toilet where a few people had already "done their business" but hadn't flushed it away.

I suspect that your little kitten has been trained by her mother from the very beginning to "go" in a fresh spot and perhaps that's what she's trying to do - little soul.

Good luck.
My sisters cat ( My Kitten ) did this, what i would suggest is to clean the sink with a strony smelling non toxic disinfectant then try to cover the sink up with a bit of ply wood or hard plastic spray lemon juice on to the item, then cut some oranges up and place on top of the item on the sink, It will deture the cat as they dont like anything citrus, then make sure litter tray is spotless if it is a hooded one remove the lid and place well away from the sink, everytime the cat eats put him/her on to litter tray until it gets the idea, It worked with my sisters cat, they like the smell of the fresh air coming up the drain pipe and think they are outside, Good Luck!!!

Hi, Thanks for your answers, i don't think i explained myself very well when i first wrote the message. Every time she goes to the toilet is it cleaned straight away and i change the litter every other day! I bought a bigger litter tray to see if that works!
