Healthy Dog Bein Put To Sleep!
i have heard the most saddest thing today! The family my partner works for had a 19 month old Male Huskey Dog, which they had had from a small pup. Unfortunatly, in his short little life, he had Nipped a few people. i dont think he had drew blood, but altho he was just a baby, he was big + people who visited the house where becoming scared of him. i just think he was misunderstod, as many a time i had been with him, he was great. On Thursday they made the decision to have him put to sleep. They tried to re-home him a couple of weeks ago, but with a family that also had a Huskey + they fort on/off for 2 days, so they brought him back home + apparently he wasnt the same dog, he had cuts of fightin + wasnt himself at all. But what did they expect?? Sounds like he had a hell of a time! i cant stop thinkin about him, he was Gorgeous, He was just a Baby!! Surely, there must of been some sort of Huskey rescue they could of sent him??

Most rescues will not take a dog that has been known to bite.
And to be honest, why should they, there are enough dogs needing homes that have excellent temperaments, and how could you ever trust him with children especially? I think they have done the right thing, and should be applauded for it, rather than trying to pass him on to someone else. Not his fault I know, but maybe the breeder was not careful enough who they let him go to. Maybe he was not socialised enough and if he was even fighting with another dog maybe he had a physical problem that was causing it. Could just be that the parents were not of good temperament. Sad but all too often these are the causes of dogs being put to sleep.
Sorry if my opinion offends anyone, I spend too much time around dogs that have not been bred/treated right to worry what people think. It is too easy to get a dog and breed from them, if people only stopped to think there would be far less problem dogs because the wrong people would not get their hands on them. You only have to look in the free papers, or on online advert sites to see how many dogs are being sold without any vetting of homes or owners. Rant over.

I agree with Lankeela.
I am sure the people thought long and hard before they had him put to sleep, they tried to rehome him and it did not work out.
They probably did not want him to go to a home where he may nip someone, the new owners might have battered him for it and kicked him out on the street where he could have been injured and had a long and painful death.
At least when he died he had people around him who cared and loved him. The vet would have been very professional and he would not have been in any pain. He would have just gone quietly to sleep.
Better that than being tied out in a garden in the cold and wet, not being fed, groomed or loved.
Sadly many charities are full to the brim at the moment and have to make the same decision to put healthy animals to sleep - there are simply not enough good homes to go round.

Just looked on one Husky rescue site, they have 22 dogs in the rescue, 4 waiting to come in. They managed to rehome 4 dogs in October.

Both my dogs were on death row for biting before I got them. I make sure my dogs are secured on my property with warning signs at my gates.
The dogs have not bitten anyone while in my care I am boss here and the dogs know it!
Just to prove that such dogs can be re-homed.....mine came free from adverts. They're alsations - the best security ever!

To give the other side of the story, I took a dog to be put to sleep because of serious temperament problems. DH and I didn't take the decision lightly and we had the worst time afterwards. It still upsets me to think about it but at least she got a gentle quiet end in my arms and was not beaten or mistreated..it wasn't her fault...she had been mis bred...as I found out afterwards. We took her on as a rescue...basically the story is that we ended up doing someone elses dirty work as the breeder and the previous owner couldn't bring themselves to do it
bless him x We had a female siberian husky, who became aggressive and began to growl and nip at times, but since rehoming her we found so much information regarding huskys and if we had looked into it properly then we would have found that she was the wrong dog for us.
Huskys need special treatment and a knowledgeable owner, they trash ur house and garden, are incredably hard to train and need so much time spent with them!
We were lucky, our husky went to a wonderful home with no children, and is doing amazing!
But with regards to her nipping, the husky club of great britain would have taken her in, as they told me so when we called them, failling that, most goofd breeders will take back the dog !
May he rest in peace, and spend many happy day being as naughty as he likes in doggy heaven!
