I would definately get a bitch otherwise you're going to have trouble when they get older about who is going to be the alpha male, this doesn't always happen, it depends on the dogs temperaments but staffies are very dominant dogs it's better to be safe than sorry . Gelda
I would go for a bitch too as two dogs could well fight. BUT I would make sure that one or both dogs are neutered. Don't think that if you get a bitch puppy that she will be OK on her first season - it is virtually impossible to keep a dog away from a bitch in season when they live in the same house. You would not want to have a bitch have puppies on her first season (there are far too many Staffies in rescue homes anyhow).

What about getting a rescue bitch? Many of the rescue homes are full of Staffies and you could see then if your dog would get on with the bitch before you commit to having her. Also the things like house training are already done! You would also be able to see the dogs character and temperament. Make sure you go to a good rescue though. You could try the breed rescue: www.cleverstaffords.co.uk/welfare.htm is a good site on the internet to try, it has lots of advice about the breed.

Please look at the question three above yours!
Hey Archie, I've got 2. Started off with a male and then got a bitch pup. Because our boy was 5 years old and settled in the house I didn't want to take the chance of big fights.
They're both done and I'm so so happy to have 2. It's nice they have each other to chase when out running and they're just such gorgeous and hilarious characters that we couldn't just have one.
But remember having 2 is double trouble, double food, double vet bills, less space on the sofa as they both want to fit in beside you, hard to get someone to look after 2 dogs when going on hols. If you rent then remember there aren't that many landlords who will allow 2 dogs and run a mile when they hear 2 Staffies. - But of course it's also double pleasure and double fun.
That such sensible advice happy face. Shame not all staffies have owners like you.
