Thought I'd start off this new section with a silly question!

Why is that my cat Sam thinks its so funny to run round in circles on my bed and therefore on me at 3.30am every morning! He also added a new dimension last night by hitting me on the side of the head with his gigantic paws!

Someone remind me why I love him so much?!

Animals are funny. One of our dogs makes her bed pulling all the covers into a heap and then grunts at the side of the bed to sleep on the bottom of ours. Leaving the messy bed for her sister.
My cat thinks its great to shout miiiaoowwww rrrrmiiiioooooowwwwwwwwww for ages just as i am fallin asleep! :-)
I often wake up with my head on the blanket below my pillow because one of my cats climbs on the pillow and pushes my head off whilst I'm asleep. The other one always sleeps where I want to put my legs so I have to bend in all sorts of shapes.

It could be worse, I know of someone who's cat throws up on her bed in the middle of the night on a regular basis.

Good job we love them isn't it?!
maybe we should have a whole section on 'weird cat behaviour'. Dogs are predictable, cats do things just because they want to.

I am cat-less, but not for long! I think the technical term is that I am 'between masters'.

catlavender - Sam does the same thing - I often wake up wearing a very furry ginger hat!

wolf63 - the term is definitely between masters - can't wait to find out about your new ones when they adopt you.

Aw he's cute. Love the one of him 'sitting up'. You're right wolf63 they do exactly what they want. That's what I love about them though!
annavc - your cat is lovely, all fluffy. Massive feet.

I have only had one cat - George. He came to stay in 2001 as a teenager and lived until May of this year. Apart from me trying to kill him a few times he kept good health until the last couple of months.

I was totally naive when I got a cat. I had always been a dog person and lived with a dog. Dogs are so keen to please and always want cuddles.

Cats are evil and anything else that I could say on the subject would just get censored.

I am thinking of getting two cats this time, they will be indoor cats. The cats protection are good at finding cats to suit the available homes.

Sounds like a great plan wolf63. Sam came from Battersea last year and has well and truely taken control of the house. His feet are slightly extraordinary - he has 7 toes on each of his front feet and 6 on each of his back feet so as you can imagine getting clobbered on the head with one of them when you're asleep is an experience not to missed - luckily for me he seems not to know what to do with his claws so its just like being hit with a big velvety glove!

Good luck with your new ones when you get them - let us know how you get on! I'm sure they'll have you whipped into shape in a matter of days.
One of my cats (now sadly deceased) used to attempt to wake me up by patting my nose with his paw, if this failed to work (or I chose to ignore him) he'd repeat the process but with his claws unsheathed -he was such a little darling
To waken me up during the night for feeding/petting the late, great, George used to start with a gentle mew, then pat my face, then again with claws out and kiss my eyeball. He went through a phase of trying to waken me by biting any body part outside the duvet, or sitting on my face. The vet said to ignore him! Ignoring a cat is not very easy to do.
I've found it's wastes far too much time trying to work out what goes on in a cat's head, I think they're all born mental!

Mine likes to wake me by licking my ears or biting my toes. She also fetches the mail sometimes too.

Crazy.
BTW

annavc, that Sam is a real cutie.

cloudcity I can't believe your cat fetches the mail sometimes - mine doesn't earn his keep in any way at all!
my late dog brought the mail in one day unfortunately it was still in the postman's hand when he grabbed it. He put his teeth right through the mail and it got stuck.

The postie had put his hand through the letterbox with the mail - we will blame the postie. He was really nice about it though - probably just as well. Don't want a dog with an ASBO.
My friend woke up the other morning and found a dead shrew on her pillow!!!. Gelda
another good reason to keep indoor cats. Waking up to a dead animal on my bed would just be too much. Uck!
Thanks for the giggle folks.
Yup cats are definately barmy. 1 of mine insists on talking to everyone loudly, especially when she comes indoors, i think its because when people come through the door they shout "im home" so the cat does as well.she also mutters to everyone, when they go to bed and dare leave the door SHUT! with her outside it.
1 of the others seems to think i need her as a head warmer, just wish she'd not purr all the time,i can't get to sleep.
Cats don't u just luv 'em.
and Rocky, the sweet darling little elephant thinks im a pincushion(he's got VERY big paws!)
