If so, could you tell me what you thought of it?

Aso, did someone come to your home to inject it every month or did you do it yourself?

J has a back leg that keeps popping out of its hip joint and I'm worried that if the Librela makes him feel better he could be charging around and doing more damage.

All views gladly received.  Got to do the right thing for my boy.

My nearly 14 year old Labrador has them.  They are administered at the vet's. The first one she had there was some improvement, after the second there was a definite improvement.  She's now had 3 and will continue whilst I think they are doing her good.  She couldn't jump up on the chair before, now she has no trouble.  She also has a little run which she had stopped doing.  She'll never do the 10 mile walks again but as long as she is out of pain I am happy.  They do cost an arm and a leg though!

Thank you all for your responses, very interesting.  Boto that's what J does, tries to leap on the sofa or bed as he always has done and misses.  Has a little rest and tries again.  I've managed to find it for £132/m which is a lot better than others around here.

Some good results it seems so I shall give it a try if the vet agrees it's OK for Jay.  I'll give him 6 months and see if there is any improvement and then consider whether to continue.  It's the quality of his life that counts, not the length.

That's a good age for a cat Toorak.  Toothache is awful as we all probably know.  When my little J landed in a Rescue they had to remove 14 teeth. Poor boy must have been in agony for years.  Fingers crossed for your puss, do let us know how she is after Christmas please.  J is at the vets tomorrow so looking forward to hearing what they recommend.

Thank you LB. We are very worried but if he is in pain/discomfort we don't want him to suffer. I will let you know how it goes.

My vet wants to put Jess on it when her current medication ceases to be effective.

he quoted me £72 per month

Thank you T.

The vet has put J on Librela injections and he had his first one this morning.  Don't see any change yet;-))

It it's like our cat you start to see the real difference after the second injection, though you might see some progress before then

Wow RH, that's cheap. I'm paying either £120 or £130 a month for 6 months.  Apparently if a nurse administers it instead of a doctor it will be a bit cheaper.

I mentioned this to you on 8th November but you said at the time that because he has pancreatitis he's not suitable for it?

Anyhow, our dog, who is seven, has been having these injections for about two years and they've been absolutely wonderful for him. He has hip dysplasia.

We book his appointment to have them in advance, sometimes it's the vet, sometimes it's the nurse. The cost is covered by his insurance.

I should add, the vet told us to only walk him on the lead and only for half an hour. Dog would go on a lot longer and further but we have to be the brains for him.

Lovely to hear how well your dog is doing Vagus.  I take it that your dog will have to have it once a month for the rest of his life?

I had read that a dog who was Pancreatic shouldn't take Librela but the vet examined him and said it was OK so I took her advice.

I'm afraid I don't have anyone for the half hour morning walk at the moment.  Going to be difficult  but the evening walk is sorted Tues-Fri.

Yes he will, ladybirder.

When he first started having them, he also had another jab at the same time but I can't remember what that was. He had the two jabs for about a year and then the vet suggested dropping the other one to see how he got on. Dog was fine and didn't start limping again so he's only had Librela since.

He was on painkillers before the jabs but the vet said he was a relatively young dog to be on painkillers for a long time/rest of his life, and as dogs insurance covers it, it was a no brainer.

Dog still behaves like a puppy and does zoomies round the garden (and house) when he's excited but doesn't seem to suffer any ill effects. You really wouldn't know there's anything wrong with him, this jab has really changed his life.

Thank you Vagus.  Jay leapt down from the bed this morning and ran into the living room and jumped up onto the sofa.  Good, but normal for him.  It's when he's walking outside you can see the problem and it's raining so might not happen today.  J does not like the rain.
