The original (and I THINK the version in the advert) was by The Dixie Cups back in the 60s. It has also been recorded by The Belle Stars in the 80s among several others.

I'm sure its a Persil advert, not Ariel.  The song is "Iko Iko" originally recorded by James Crawford but the version used on the ad is by Cindy Lauper, although The Belle Stars, The Dixie Cups and Aaron Carter have all made versions of it.
