Can anyone please tell me when the Royal Navy stopped wearing Putees and started wearing Gaiters?

Jenny, you probably need to ask this question at a Royal Navy website to be sure of getting a precise reply.One Army regiment continued to wear puttees until battledress was replaced in the late 1960s but I have no info on the Royal Navy.
