I have SRS airbags in my front car seats. I want to put covers on the seats, but do not want to restrict the airbags. I have seen there SRS compatable seat covers availble, and wondered how they differ from standard covers. Is it ok to use 'normal' seat covers instead

No. If the airbags go off under the seat covers they could inflate under the seat covers and blow you across the car or through the windscreen, not save your life.
