In the 80s or 90s there was an advertising campaign for Nescafe which used South American music. I think the title was something like Cumbia Cumbia. Any idea who the artist was?

This is only a guess, but if the music was all panpipes and guitars, then the group may have been called Incantation, whose most famous track is called cacharpaya (I think I've spelt that right).
The (brilliant) song you're after is La Colegiala by a group called Rodolfo Y Su Tipica -- available on lots of compilations esp of Colombian music. Starts with a cry of 'Cumbia cumbia' and a ratatattat of timbales before the horns kick in. Great stuff! (Terrible coffee, though)
