I am helping to raise awareness of a fundrasing event, but apart from putting up posters in work and emailing friends, what else can I do to 'advertise' the event? local papers have already been contacted and coverage agreed.

How about getting your event mentioned on a local radio station
Local libraries may also take posters or flyers.

Also your local council may have a website where you can put adverts for events
