There is and has been an ad on for a while now for Monster jobs website and I can't find the song anywhere. I've emailed Monster and they say it is 'Do Ya' by ELO, which I know it is definately not! It is a cover of the song 'Pretty Flamingo' but i can't find the actual version. If anybody knows please help!!!

pretty flamingo has been covered by rod stewart, and the queers.
Deffo not the ELOs Do Ya, though the guitar sound is similar to the monster ad on the coda. The tune in the ad is deffo Pretty Flamingo . Will post if / when I track the b*gger down!!

Thanks sooo much. I know it's not the Rod Stewart or Queers version so far but finding the recentish-sounding version off the ad is a pain.
the original was done by manfred mann in 1966, but Darius Danesh did a cover in 2002. hope this helps!

Thanks alot. Dunno if its the right song coz i cant get hold of it newwhere, but i have a hunch it is cause ive tryed every version ive fouind and this is the only one i havent heard of yet. Thanks again.
hi there,
i was wondering bout this song too. i looked up in itunes, Electric Light Orchestra, Do Ya --- from Strange Magic, the Best of Electric Light Orchestra. I'm not sure why you and other posts say it is not elo, the song is the same :) :) :)

The Darius Danesh is an acoustic version so its not that. Just listend to Do Ya by the ELO and wile the guitar sound and coda melody are similar to the Monster ad , it's not the same track ... UNless theres a version where the coda becomes Pretty Flamingo (some live album???) . ELOs Do Ya is the closest but I dont think its the one despite what Monster say.

It's called Big Blue Sky by Roger Gisborne.
You can listen to it at www.extrememusic.com. Go Get Music, click on X-series, then Composer. Then scroll down to Roger Gisborne (under 'R') and click on his name. It should bring back 3 songs, one of which is BBS. Hover over the track entry and you can choose to hear the full song, a 30-second clip or the instrumental track.

ANSWERED!!!!!!!!!! ONCE AND FOR ALL ....

thanks for everyone's interest on this song...I was in a band called Plastiscene signed to Universal/Mojo records in the late late 90's...The song is "Big wheel" i had no idea it had been used and i have received no compensation for the use...I wrote the song as i was going through a psychedelic beatles thing at the time..I have hundreds of tracks and five more albums of masters etc.. Doese anyone know if this was online only ad or was it TV?
OBVIOUSLY BMI ARE NOT DOING THEIR JOB..i need to skip to ASCAP

I currently reside in Los angeles where i have had music placed from various projects in film,t.v(westwing, one tree hill etc) and HBO,showtime etc you can hear a lot more of my music on myspace.com/localdivision and also me and my partner Anita (ent attorney) have a pre cleared music site called anglophilemsusic.com which covers every sub genre of brit/indie..etc We also manage and own an indie label Intravenenous records.com sort of like a Creation records based in LA...we are looking to get mroe going in t.v ad world please email me [email protected] or [email protected]

Cheers,
Roger
Both songs have been used (however illegally) to advertise Monster. Plastiscene / Roger Gisborne's Big Wheel , which is heavily influenced by Pretty Flamingo and The ELO's version of Jeff Lynne's Do Ya.

Both can be sample here

The Plastiscene album is rather good , well worth buying if you like what you hear on the Monster advert
