Assistance desperately required ! I run Windows XP professional and internet explorer. Every web site i go to loads in a matter of seconds, if not quicker, including this site. Except ebay. This takes at least 5 mins to load each page. This was not always the case. Until a few weeks ago ebay loaded as quickly as any of them, but now it can take 20 minutes to get to a relevant page, eg loading the site itself, then the category (eg automotive), then the sub category (eg classic cars), then the specfici category (eg Classic Jaguars) as each page takes 5 minutes to load. I've tried contacting ebay but have had no response. Any ideas out there?

It could just be that you have some corruped cached internet files. Try installing and running CCleaner from here http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/ its free and after you run it reboot you PC and try ebay again.

Delete all your temporary interent files.

Hi Pheasant, I have a similar problem with ebay. Some pages I try to load display a page full of "script" that looks like egyptian hyrogliphics, for want of a better discription! This only happens on ebay, and not always on the same pages, ie sometimes they load properly, other times not. I'm not very computer-wise, so not sure what to do at all!!

Kerplunk, if I delete all my temporary internet files does that mean the computer "forgets" everything, ie all my saved sites in favourites etc? I currently have about 50 saved sites I use fairly regularly. Including this one.
You will not loose any of your favourite sites etc by deleting the temporary internet files, you should bear in mind that E Bay is extremely busy this time of the year, having read your posting you state that every other web site you go to loads in a matter of seconds I think this answers your own question its nothing to do with your computer its the E Bay site, I have noticed when I check out anything to do with cars on E Bay it seems to take ages to load up, just to ease your mind check out something similar how about Auto Trader? if this loads up quickly then dont worry or change anything .I certaintly would not worry or touch anything.

KJN, I understand what you're saying, but the timescale is literally 5 minutes per page, including the homepage. 5 minutes staring at the screen while it tortuously loads a page is an awfully long time. Friends have encountered longer loadingtimes at this time of the year but say the worst they have encountered is 30 seconds to 1 minute. Ebay cannot seriously expect anyone to bid on any item if the page is taking 5 minutes to refresh (especiallywhen most people leave it to the last minute to put in their bids), therefore I assume they have enough capacity to cover the extra demand at this time of year. However, I will try various other sites as you have suggested, before getting involved in anything too technical. Thanks
I would still try deleting your temporary internet files.
