Sewing Stretch Fabric On Sewing Machine

I am trying to sew some light weight synthetic jersey material but I can't get my machine to sew a single stitch. I've tried using zigzag stitch, altering the stitch length and foot pressure. I am using a ball point needle and the same thread top and bottom but it just won't stitch. I know the machine is ok because it sews fine on other fabrics. Can anyone tell me what is happening?

One of my machines simply would not sew with a ball point needle.
