On the recent Adidas ad showing a woman and her son in the park, a load of famous footballers run towards them and pull up just short of running into them. The footballers freeze into a pose which I am sure is copied from a piece of French Revolutionary Art, does anyone know what it is? My other half thinks I am making it up!

I'm with you ... I'm also convinced it's a mimic of a famous battle scene painting .. but for the live of me I can't remember the name of it!!

Sorry I can't be of help .. but you're not alone. .. and you're not making it up. ;0)

The picture you are looking for is:

Ferdinand-Victor-Eugne Delacroix
'Liberty Leading the People (28th July 1830)'

which is taken from a previous post on the same matter
