Yes it is my father although his voice has been tampered with by Capitol Records who gave the authority for its use. Glad to hear your wife is a fan, maybe you can pop to www.mattmonro.com
All the best

I actually think whoever it is IS actually better!
I have tried comparing the Ad with original recordings of Matt Munroe and would say the Foxy Bingo 'song-over' is one of his.:-

Ron.
Sorry - I am thinking of the wrong Foxy Bingo advert
It is Matt Monroe if you read towards the bottom of the following page:-

Thanks guys -looks like I lost! -Matt was certainly on top form when that was recorded....I really thought the ad voice was a better imitator!
To my shame and every one else's, we have got his name wrong. It is Monro, no E.
I think it is a very good impersonation of Matt Munro's excellent voice but if you listen carefully to the vibrato you will hear that it is slightly "faster" or "quicker" than the original recording. Vivandorron I know what you mean but it just doesn't sound quite right to me.
The recording has been speeded-up a bit and that is possibly why Matt's voice sounds a little higher in pitch. I still remain convinced it is Matt but a few may doubt.( as is the case amongst his devotees) :-

Does't quite sound like Matt Monro to me but a very good sound a like.

SOG -you know that's exactly what I thought! although vivandorron may have hit the mark here with a possible audio edit.....!
My belief that it is Matt Munro is based purely upon intonation. Just listen to the singing of opening words.

Obviously I am open to being proved wrong and, with that in mind, I have posted in the 'Music' section of AB.:-

If you'd googled, you could have resolved this - it IS Matt Monro, alebit that they have spelled his name wrong in the blurb http://www.campaignli...bingo-exposes-new-ad/
Hi boxtops....I have Googled and Googled...Hence the reason for my also having posted above, a link similar to yours for 'Campaign'.

You have pointed out a mistake in the 'blurb'. So perhaps it raises the question..."How reliable is the site"?.

Ron.
Dunno, ron - unless you actually email Foxy Bingo and ask them...
Good thought boxtops....However, I am avoiding doing so for fear of having 'nasties' put into my computer. My WOT (Web of Trust), Firefox add-on, informs me that it is a site with a poor reputation.

Speaking as a great admirer of Matt Monro, I say this is definitely his own recording, though it's been played around with to fit the ad.

Matt, former bus driver, was one of the few vocalists who didn't adopt a mid-Atlantic accent when he sang, and had beautiful intonation. Listen to the way he sings the word 'grass' on this track.

He died tragically young, aged 54. His son also tours as a vocalist but unfortunately did not inherit his Dad's voice.
It isn't his voice, companies aren't allowed to use original versions of songs because of copyright costs, it is a recorded version of the best soundalike guy they can find, whoever he is ?
